Ford Motor Company

37 -45 Seaview Road.
Gracefield, Wellington
This impressive factory building with a glass wall on its northern side was built with standardised steel frames fabricated in Canada. The west elevation was designed by King & Dawson. (1935-37)

No longer used for vehicle assembly it is now a building supplies store.

Factories are important in the history of the Modern Movement. In particular the Peter Behrens A.E. G. High Tension Factory of 1909 "represented the culmination of his efforts to give architectural dignity to a workplace".
