Criterion Hotel

Tyne Street
South Hill, Otago
In 1877 hotelier William Gillespie built the Criterion on its key corner site to a design by Forrester & Lemon. The no-licence poll of 1905 killed the pubs and the legal sale of alcohol from 1906 but you can drink here now.

Even better news is you can also stay here in in true Victorian Style. The current owners have completed a full upgrade of the hotel complete with a British and Victorian theme without going over the top. The only downtown accommodation available and the dining room is good to go too.
