Glenfalloch Woodland Gardens

430 Portobello Road, Collinswood, Otago Peninsula
Collinswood, Otago
Glenfalloch, a settler homestead, was bought by the Otago Peninsula Trust in 1968 to ensure public access.

It features original plantings of European trees from 1872, underplanted with sizable azaleas and rhododendrons, including many unique hybrids, and large-leafed species. Daffodils, tulips, flowering cherries and, for the autumn, maples and silver birches ensure year round displays. There is a 45-minute bush walk.

Glenfalloch Gardens have been assessed as a "Garden of National Significance" by the NZ Gardens Trust.

Several artists work in a building near the homestead. There is also a resident potter.

The amenities for visitors include a stylish cafe and the homestead can be rented out for weddings and functions. A recent and welcome addition is a stable of 'green bikes,' which can be rented for exploring the surrounds. They boast a little electric motor which allows cyclists to travel a little further or faster than they otherwise might.
