Visitor InformationFor local knowledge of New Zealand attractions, visitor information centres are a great help. There are over 100 listed in the database, so there is a good chance there is one near where you want to go. Even where a town does not have a visitor centre you will often find by choosing 'Information' in your search you will get a perspective on the locality and what you might look for. Travel Bookings: In larger centres you can also make tour and travel bookings. Local Activities: Visitor Information Centres are also good places to get descriptions of local walks and to find out if there are "must see" shows or other happenings on while you are in town. Our maps show you where to find them. We also list under 'Information' links to local transport sevices which will help you get around the town or city. Airports: To get airport information for any town enter the town name plus the word airport as a starting place in the DayOut query (e.g Wellington airport ) and tick Information. The search result will tell you what sort of air services the airport gets, how to travel to the city centre and the time it will take. Hints: Use the town name plus the word airport as the starting place not the airport's official name. This saves having to know for example that the Timaru airport is known as the Richard Pearse airport. If you want accommodation near the airport, enter the town name together with the word airport as your starting place in the Nightaway search. To make an advance booking for transport to the city from New Zealand Airports follow this link.
